A day ago or so, somebody said you need to connect DTR of your cable to DTRof your second com port to be able to test the cable with Hyperterminal.
I figured that VAG-COM does a cable check as well. In the Select com port dialog you can press test. That way you don't have to connect DTR to some other com port, because VAG-COM pulls it low.
