As I already posted in an older message, I'd like to start working
on the ECU of my new Fiat Punto 1.2 16V, for my own curiosity, and to
publish results (as soon as I have some; I don't have any commercial
use of it in my mind!). But, I'm afraid I'll soon get stucked, having
found no information about Fiat OBD yet.
I don't have a scan-tool and I must start with a 'blind' approach. I
found very useful the VWInfo page
(http://www.geocities.com/vaginfo/), as well as many other sites,
being full with detailed infos. But, I wonder if, and
what could be at least partially applied to my Fiat Punto. That's
my main question: which part of the description found in the VWInfo
page is compliant with the OBD standard, and which is Volkswagen-
specific? For example, is the 5 baud startup handshake a standard OBD
feature? Does it exist a set of 'standard commands' to be exchanged
between between an ECU and a tester, or are them manufacturer-
specific? I guess at least the one used to retrieve the OBD trouble P-
codes is a standard one, isn't it?
Thanks to anybody who cane give any further information.
bye
Fabio
