Fabio,

first check your e-mail program. You have sent to the list SEVERAL messages with the same content.

Regarding your question. All the cars after 1996 (or thereabout) have ODB-II compatible engine management systems. This means that ALL cars respond to the same commands, communicate with the same protocols etc.

The only diffrence is that there are 3 distinct Communication protocols supported by the OBD-II standard and a manufacturer like FIAT is free to choose which protocol will be used on their cars.

The information in the VAGINFO page is correct for any car using the J1850 PWM protocol.

If FIAT is using this protocol then ALL info is OK for you. You need to find what FIAT is using.

The other 2 protocols are ISO 9141-2 and J1850 VPW. There is also a variation of the ISO one which is the European ISO 9141.

You can find which one by looking at your connector and following the information from http://www.obdii.com/connector.html.

I quote here:

J1850 VPW--The connector should have metallic contacts in pins 2, 4, 5, and 16, but not 10.
ISO 9141-2--The connector should have metallic contacts in pins 4, 5, 7, 15, and 16.
J1850 PWM--The connector should have metallic contacts in pins 2, 4, 5, 10, and 16.

Sorry I do not have info regarding the European ISO protocol.

Chris
