Interfacing with VW Polo 6N (to be continued... :-))

Hello guys!
Sorry to bother again, but I'm still having probs with that Polo 6N.

First of all, ecxuse this following long text, but it's necessary to
explain all the details to get a detailled answer.

I wrote in an older message, that I tried at Polo 6N built 1998
(let's call it Polo1), but nothing happened at all.
So I went to VW and borrowed the original cable from 1551 to Diag-
Connector.
I found out that there is an 680 Ohm pull-up-resistor at the K-Line.

Yesterday I tried again on Polo1 whit that new cable (and with the
original) but still no connection.

Today another friend of mine visited me, who also drives a Polo 6N
built 1997 (let's call it Polo2). I tried my "new" cable and it
worked with Airbag and ABS. But no connection to engine-management.
I watched the LED of the interface. One is for PC-Send (yellow) and a
red one for PC-Receive.
At ABS, while that 5bps-code is sent, both LEDs are flashing.
But on engine only the yellow one flashed. Strange, isn't it?
The second thing is a very weak "Klick" in the "armatures". It always
klicks, when changing from SEND to RECEIVE. I was told that this is
some kind of Interface-Box. HAs anybody got some infos about that?

By the way, I'm unsing VAG-COM (DEMO), but have no idea what all
that "OPTIONS" of the software mean!?!
