Programming OBD Frame

i reversed from VAG-COm and i found some good informations.
When you click on the OBDII button, VAG-COM start an initialisation
sequence, and check for OBDII protocol.
The 2 keys byte which tell to VAG-COM that the car il OBD complient
are :
0x08 and 0x08.
But how VAG-COM can check if an interface is present?
i link 2 PCs and i am writing an application which will simulate the
ECU.
i'll regulary post my work.
