HI Ezequiel
0x55 is sent to you extra for Baudrate detecting ( alternating 1 and 0 ) . You must measure 1 bit period ( wait of change 1--> 0 start a timer wait of0--> 1 stop timer ) the timer count indicates you the bit duration of intended comm. Baudrate. you can compute it in Bit / sec . it is your baudrate.

Subject: [opendiag] How to determine which protocol to use with a VW ECU
Hello,
I'm making a little scanner just to get the ECU ID. How can I know
if the ECU I'm communication is KWP1281 or KWP2000? Slow Init or
Fast Init? I need to just plug the connector to the scanner and
doing everything by software, determine speed ( I do this waiting
for a 0x55 at 10400bps, if it's 0x85 then the speed is 9600bps, but
don't know what to do at other speeds ), and determine which
protocol and if it's slow or fast init.
Thanks very much
Ezequiel
