opendiag project

Hello,

I'm a little new in the system, can you help me out how to communicate with
OBD2, using a windows system? I already used VAG-com with succes (Jeff's
interface) but I would like to communicate with other makes of vehicles.
After reading a lot of posts, I'm not getting any wiser (excuse me, I'm not
a professional programmer, I'm a mechanic with a good knowledge of
electronics and computers, but...)

Hope you can help, I'm only trying to learn something usefull.
