I am able to use most of the functions of VAG-Check with my Dell Axim X5, but I get timeout errors. The system will only stay connected for about 2 minutes, then timeout. When it is connected I am able to reset fault codes, and do basic settings. I haven't tried adaptions yet.
I would like to understand why the software times out. It may be something to do with my Axim, but my Axim works great with my GPS on serial for extended periods of time.
Thanks,
Travis

Update - the software has had a bug fixed and is available for
download from www.arlab.it I have had some sucess with this product
but still the adaption is causing me to pull my hair out (latest
version is no better). The author has sort of come to the conclusion
that it may be my car (Audi A8 3.7). VAG.com works so I doubt it.
I have monitored the serial line communication and I have a couple of
questions I hope somone may be able to answer. If not for me maybe
something I can pass on to the author.
1) The communication for the instrument ECU does not follow the
protocol which is described for the 'engine' quite elegantly at
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/audicom/protocole_uk.htm . For the engine
(and auto box) the bytes are translatable as ASCII to data such as
type and serial number etc. on my serial line monitor is appears as
the correct text but not for the instrument ECU which I see as
gobbledegook on the serial monitor (technical term)although VAG Check
sees it correctly. Can anyone explain this?
2) When communication is attempted for the Adaption function
the 'data' (not a block counter) returned by the instrument ECU just
seems to count up in steps of 2 or no return at all just an
acknowlegement block from the ECU. Is this a sensible pattern?
Hopefull of a reply.
Thank you,
Craig
P.S I had a recent reply from a member re VAG Check but the return
address failed. Please contact me again.
