Most of the big-name chip-tuners like APR and GIAC claim they know how.
It's supposed to be pretty tricky, involving some crypto
challenge/response to initiate the session. Needless to say, the people
that know how to do it aren't publishing the specs..:-)

I've said this before on my own list: I'd pay serious money for a
product that can do this -- PC software, dedicated hardware, it doesn't
matter.

Why? So I can figure out how to do it myself (reverse enginee it) and
offer an *affordable* product that can do it. The chip-tuners would
hate me, but they'd get over it (presumeably by disabling the code in
the chip that allows you to read it from the port).

PS: There are products like this on the market for most other brands of
cars, but not for VW/Audi. VAG seems to be the only manufacturer to
have put a "lock and key" on this.
