I'm looking at Opel/Vauxhall diesel controllers (EDC15M on an X22DTH)
so maybe we can share information. Your list looks OK, but I would
not be sure about the init method, I'm having problems with this area
on the EDC15. When you say OBDII compatible, again I think that it
will be very limited - I'm using an Elmscan ISO interface with
Scantool and Hyperterminal and although it connects OK (slow init, I
think) it will not allow the reading of trouble codes - but you can
read sensor data on this interface OK.

I've bought an interface from SK Pang who is on this list, but I
haven't managed to get a connection with it yet. My suspicion is that
there are software timing problems with the init process on the
programs that I have tried (Sander's and Andy Whittaker's) on my very
slow old laptop, and that the engine ECU is (correctly) ignoring the
init because it's outside the spec. I haven't been able to get hold
of an oscilloscope yet to make some measurements - frustrating,
because I used to be an electronic designer years ago and had access
to all those tools!

Also, as programming the serial ports on Windows 2000 is not easy,
you may like to look at Ramon Klein's serial library at

which even if you choose not to use it will give you some good steers
on getting the serial ports to work.
