Crevrolet Astra Problem

Hello to everybody!!!
I have a Chevrolet Astra 2000cc Coupe, and last week a very extrange
problem occured.
The DTC Light in the dashboard lights, indicating that there is a
problem in the engine.
The car works perfectly, but sometimes it accelerates to 2000rpm,
then the rpms gets low and
the light switch off, and then again the light switch on. I tested
all the sensors, and everything
is okey. Apparently my father used it for 10 days with the Canister
Tube disconnected. Could this change
some ECU parameter, so now with the Tube connected the car fails?
Unfortunately, I don't have a DTC Scanner
for this car, so I don't know what error the ECU shows. Is there any
way I can reset the ECU DTCs or read
it without using and scanner? Perhaps a very basic diagnostic, using
the dashboard diagnostic light.
I would really appreciate any help or hint sent...
