I looked at that signal again. When the car is off or key turned to
accessory there is a glitch every 10 ms or so. When the engine is
running, the glitch has a bit more amplitude and the pulse width
seems
to be related to the engine speed. The duty cycle never seems to
exceed about 5%.
I'm not going to pursue that pin much more for now. I want to get
the
interface to the K Line running so I can continue with my project.
Another question:
Can you talk both ISO-9141 and VAG on the K Line depending upon how
you initialize the port on powerup? Obviously, the VAG protocol at
9600 baud works, but the port is still an ISO-9141-2 port, so I
assume
it will talk at 10.4 kbps also, depending upon configuration.
I bought the ISO-9141-2 spec from niso.org the other night. Bastards
soaked me for $51. There is a ISO-9141-1 and ISO-9141-3 also for $46
and $64, respectively. I wonder if I need these as well? Does
anyone
have these specs that I might get a copy of or trade for the -2 spec?
I don't know if they are necessary and I certainly don't want to
spend
the money if they aren't.
Thanks guys,
Brian
