They (in dashboard) often use a group of TPIC595 (TI). This are latchable
shift register with 500mA output power stage. With three wire from uP (Data,
Clock, Load) they can drive (cascading more TPIC595) a very large number of
leds

hi,
i find that those leds on dashboards are usually power leds with
current rating within 20mA-100mA, which is too high for an MCU to drive
directly.
i wish to know if there is any often-used driver ic/components to drive
these leds..
any suggestion?
