RE: [opendiag] Subaru Impreza and OBDII

Hi

The Subaru may be ISO14230 (Key Word Protocol) which uses the same(ish)
physical layer as ISO9141. One of ISO14230's initmodes is something called
Fast initialisation, which involves sending a 25ms break, followed by a 25ms
high
signal followed by the ISO14230 start communications request. (another one
is the
5 baud init that you are used to).

I wouldnt touch the other pins, they are probably other system's diagnostic
connectors. The Mercedes cars use almost all the non-standard pins for other
control units that would interact with each other if connected all to the
same K line
Almost all controllers on the new Mercedes are ISO14230-4, same on Swedish
cars.

Cheers
Richard

Subject: [opendiag] Subaru Impreza and OBDII

I have a successfully got an interface talking ISO to an Audi S3, but
it won't talk to my Subaru Impreza. I know that my Subaru is also ISO
as opposed to J1850 etc, so it should be just the same.

Any ideas ?

I can send ISO with or without init, but I just get no response back.

In a previous post, I mentioned that the OBDII connector also has two
additional (non-standard) pins wired up. These are pins 12 & 13 btw.
I am wondering (but not brave enough to try without confirmation)
whether these need to be shorted in order to bring the OBDII portion
of the ECU to life.

Thanks for your help

Steve

P.S. Thanks to TAS for the diagram that he uploaded.
