Jeffs Interface

Greetings from Germany!

I took Jeffs Layout and built a conector like it was described.
My components were:
- Optokoppler: PC837 (= 3 * PC817)
- Transistors: BC182
- I used a 1uF- capacity as electrolyte (this means it has a
polarity).

I tried to connect to a Passat TDI (1995) and it did not work.

I've read about the test to check the interface by connecting it to a
COM-Port and "talking" to it via hyperterminal. The
Windows98-hyperterminal always denies access with the error message
"Can't open port".
The car-side if the interface was connected with 12V, the K-line was
not connected. I think there has to be a connection to K-line...

It seems to me like many people in this group do have problems
concernig checking the Interface. Maybe someone whose Interface does
work can describe how to do the test (with Windows-software?!).

Thanks and regards,

Jochen
