VPW OBD-II for 2000 Camaro

Has someone tried the ELM322 from ELM electronics?

This chip converts VPW signal to RS 232 levels, code readings can be
made with Windows terminal on a laptop. (and it's only $11.50 CAN in
8pin dip case!)
Because I don't want a complex system and just read trouble codes, it
seems very interesting.

If someone has bought and tried this chip, please let me know.
