BELIEVE IT OR NOT!

The Pentagon, in Arlington, Virginia, has twice as many
bathrooms as is necessary. When it was built in the 1940s,
the state of Virginia still had segregation laws requiring
separate toilet facilities for blacks and whites.

SAM KNIGHT PROFILE!

Let me introduce myself.

"Sam" is my nickname. My real name is Susan - Sue,
for short. So now the secret's out - I'm female! So are
my two daughters, Leslie and Stephanie :)

I was born in New York State, but now live just
outside Atlanta, Georgia. I love it here! My parents
reside in Los Angeles. I grew up one of six siblings.
We are scattered around the country at this point.
Oh, yeah, I am a definite Baby Boomer, too!

How'd I get here? I like this story. A while back
I submitted an article to THE PEBBLE. Ken Darby
wrote me a nice complimentary email about it. Better
still, he published it. Somehow, dialog continued
(this happens to me alot!). I ended up submitting
another article. He liked that one even better.

More dialog followed and I incorporated some info
that drew together two groups I'd come to appreciate,
one of which is my online support group who I have
dubbed "The Soupers" (after an article I wrote titled
"Chicken Soup For The Net").

Better than any professional therapy, we now refer to
one another as "Soupers"! We like each other, teach
each other, encourage and bolster each other. There's
no sense of humor lacking here, either. I invite you to

The article also included Ken's new venture,
THE-REAL-LIST, which is designed to bring integrity to
the forefront of the Internet airwaves. Anyone wishing to
escape the hype and nonsense of the Net needs to join

Recently, Ken had a brainstorm: he asked me to write a
weekly article for him. Another lightbulb went off in his
head and he then expanded his invitation to include this
new column. You don't have to ask a writer to write twice!

What do I do? Okay, here goes. I am an Affiliate of two

I also write. I am the author of "Mixing Blood, Weaving Hearts"
( www.envy.nu/slesley ), an online ebook (contemporary
fiction); "I Like BimmyBammy", a short story for children;
and "Yeah, He's A Space Cadet, But I Love Him, Anyway",
a hilarious look at why our men do what they do (pre-tested
by a few of my male friends, who loved it - WHEW!). Both of
these are available through me presently

through a website (NOT one of my talents; I rely on the
kindness of strangers). Finally, I am in the process of helping
to develop a complete writer's resource site which is going
to blow people away! (I promise to keep you posted).

In my "off moments" I love to read, cook, travel and am a
big fan of old movies (I used to have a cat named
Cagney - in honor of Jimmy Cagney) - and Doo Wop music.

Guess it's pretty obvious I've been blessed with an
abundance of natural energy and love being busy.
More than anything else, I believe in maintaining a
strong positive attitude and a never-ending belief in
yourself. Dreams and wishes are like Cotton Candy
to me.

As we all become more Internet-knowledgeable and
savvy, I think it is extremely important to understand
that it is NOT a free ride to fame and fortune. Success
does NOT come from pie-in-the-sky pretty-talk. It comes
from work. Hard work - which reaps it's own rewards.

Let's also recognize that success does not - and should
not - be defined solely in terms of monetary achievement.
The friendships and acquaintances you meet along the
way are precious and should be considered as such.
Money's great; people are better.

To me, it's important that we believe in a Higher Power.
It does not have to share the same name as the guy across
from you. We just need to keep in mind that WE are not IT.
Look at the sky; look at nature; look at the mountains.
We didn't do that.

I have two favorite sayings: "To Thine Own Self Be True"
and "God Grant Me The Serenity To Accept The Things I
Cannot Change, The Courage To Change The Things I Can
and The Wisdom To Know The Difference".

I am looking forward to sharing other "Real People" Profiles
with all of you. We all stand to learn a little more and how
bad is that? Ken will provide details as to how you might
become a "Profiler" in the future.
