Hi! I'm new to the group too. My name is Brian and I run my own V.W. repair
shop. We actually specialize in (mostly)" pre-1996' " German autos, lots of
air-cooled stuff too. The current cars just aren't broke down yet, or are
still under factory warranty, so we don't have alot of "OBD" experience
but..,our time is coming and I have just gotten the all the stuff you got,
except that I have software from "OBD2" and have not yet used it. But, here
is what it can do for you... Depending on which version of "motronic" engine
management your vehicle came with, you can "look" at all the sensors in the
system, which is only usefull if something is broken ( i.e. a bad
temperature sensor ) or, you can actually modify the fuel
consumption/horsepower characteristics of the vehicle. Now thats COOL ,But
you'd better pay close attention, because if you really muck up the settings
you may end up going into a dealership to have it all re-set. Try to get a
copy of your particular vehicles fuel system manual before you dig to deep.
